Ti Rim Road Prototype
Speedvagen has always been about serious racing machines with beautiful hues and paint schemes that are rarely seen in the bike world. Tied together by great stories, hard rides, and good friends. From the gun there was that dichotomy of a beautiful machine produced from grit and grime, with trusty old tools.
It's ingrained in us and our roots and our employees' roots. Sacha and Woody were bike messengers during their formative years. The majority of the rest of the shop spent their earlier years on either BMX bikes or Skateboards. These gritty beginnings influenced us from the start, up until this day.
Coming into our shop is a bit like heading to a show, there’s a buzz, a vibe, an energy. When it’s on, things just flow and it’s a damn party of getting shit done. Wanting to end the year on a strong note, we wanted to capture this energy and feeling and put it into one unit. How do you touch on our beginnings, where our heads are now, and what's inspiring our future?
What does that look like in bike form?
Leopard print was established in high fashion by Dior in 1947, from there it has taken wild swings in both directions as symbols of wealth, or tackiness. In pop culture leopard print also swings the full pendulum, often used as a symbol of sexuality or as a way to show someone being bold and confident. Debbie Harry of blondie became a fashion icon wearing leopard at the height of when it was considered tacky. Slightly later, male rock stars used the print to push questions on gender norms and sexuality. Then the punk scene adopted it specifically for its connotations and anti-respectability. A symbol of not being forced to conform to conservative values when the nation was pushing that way hard.
With so many uses and style it's the ultimate symbol of owning your look, and confidence. Both of these things are built into the foundation of SV.
So, what is our leopard print? The answer was glaringly simple. Speedvagen cut its teeth on rim brake road bikes. The ultimate expression of form and function for us.
For this 11th why not push the limits of all of the above.
The Speedvagen Ti Rim Road Prototype is dressed in leopard print that leans camo (Unicorn Camo?). Red “Lead” Primer meets leopard in a no holds barred cage match of a bike that marries our past to our future. A modern Ti Rim Road bike with sram axs shifting. All of these parts, materials, patterns and finishes add up to one hotrod’esq rocket of a bike.
Purity, Confidence, Punk and everything in-between. This is Speedvagen and our crew of experts all coming together to produce a singular, beautiful bicycle. Our past meets our newest material wrapped in some “unicorn camo” for good measure.
Is it for everyone hell no, and we don’t ever want it to be.
Sincerely
Speedvagen.

The Design
We design Custom Speedvagen road bikes in the tradition of the great stage race machine. They are comfortable for long days in the saddle and solid at high speeds. Well behaved while climbing and confidence inspiring in descents. Riding curvy roads, in the heat of “battle” the bike feels better and more fun the faster it goes.
Note: As this is the first prototype small changes may in the final product might happen. ( we are working on some neat details)
speedvagen Options and Features
Speedvagen Ti is realer than real
Over sized and corrosion resistant, Ti is the material if you live in a caustic environment or wet weather. For the first time we are using a Ti seat tube. Our new SV Titanium tubing is designed to mimic our steel tubes for the killer ride quality we are known for. Now available in both blasted, fully painted, and everything in-between finishes.
Custom painted hubs
Hubs are a prime location to incorporate your Speedvagen frame color. Instead of the wheels looking like extra parts bolted on to a bike. Your hubs can accent your bikes paint or even extend the design connoting the fork.
Integrated SeatMast
The integrated seatmast makes for beautiful lines. There are a couple
of things that are unique to our bikes. Each length of every Speedvagen seat mast is finished specifically for its owner. With our all new Ti Seatube option the posthead mounts directly to the unpainted surface. The result is lighter and cleaner than a traditional seatpost. Topped with our enve post head you have a killer combo.
